Official riders Didier De Radigues and Ivan Palazzese, semi-official riders Manfred Wimmer and Carlos Lavado: that was the Aprilia formation for '89.
But the best result at the beginning of the season was obtained by Marcellino Lucchi, a test rider, who came in sixth at Misano.
The season was saddened by Ivan Pallazese's fatal accident at Hockenheim.
The best result in the season was obtained by Wimmer, third at Salzburg.
Things went much better in the European Championship, where Andrea Borgonovo was among the leaders.
In the 125cc class too, Aprilia collected some excellent results with Fausto Gresini, who was always in the top positions.
