1990 brought a great relaunching of the official Aprilia bikes: the racing department was completely restructured.
The bikes were all entrusted to external teams with direct support from Aprilia: the riders were Lavado, Wimmer, De Radigues and Reggiani.
It was a season of distinct recovery: Wimmer came second at Rijeka and Salzburg, De Radigues at Spa, Reggiani was third at Le Mans while the Dutch rider van de Heijden was successful in the European Championship.
Above all the foundations were laid for a great '91.
In the 125cc class the Aprilia standard-bearers, still with the Italia Team, were Alessandro Gramigni and Gabriele Debbia, who shone in a series of attacking races: the 125cc was faster and more competitive.
