1994

Exceptional result!

1994 was another historic year for Aprilia: its riders won the World Championship in both the 125cc and the 250 cc class: an exceptional result!

With profound alterations to its cycle parts and, from half-way through the championship, in the engine too, the '94 version of the RS 250 was a bike that proved to be really strong right from the first tests in winter; the riders were Biaggi, Ruggia and Bayle.

The rider from Rome was the most successful, fighting for the title right from the start of the season against the Honda riders Capirossi and Okada: Biaggi won in Australia, Malaysia, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic and in Europe, Ruggia at Jerez.

In the 125cc class it was the Japanese rider Kazuto Sakata who led the field: he won in Austria and in Spain (three Aprilia bikes in the first three places, with Oettl and Torrontegui on the second and third steps of the podium) and collected points in nearly every race.

Aprilia also took eight pole positions and nine fastest laps!

Aprilia made its debut in the 500cc class with an innovative two-cylinder bike which aimed, with light weight and agility, to beat the four-cylinder models: an innovative decision in the Aprilia tradition. It was ridden by Loris Reggiani who won 7 points.
