Now there's no stopping Aprilia in the 250cc class: Malaysia, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Great Britain, the Czech Republic, Argentina and Europe were the victories of an almost perfect motorcycle, skillfully ridden by Max Biaggi: a combination that took a total of 10 pole positions.
With the minor results achieved by Bayle and Roberto Locatelli, as well as the Riders' Title Aprilia took the Makers' Title, for the first time since it had been taking part in world motorcycling.
In the 125cc class, Sakata did not manage to repeat his success and finished in second place; nevertheless Aprilia had three wins, two with the World Champion, in Great Britain and the Czech Republic, and the third in Brazil, with Tokudome.
In the 500cc class the two-cylinder bike was making great progress, allowing Reggiani to end up 10th, in front of various official four-cylinder bikes.
