Always World Champion

Eight victories seemed a lot last season, but in '96 things went even better: Malaysia, Japan, Spain, Italy, France Great Britain, the Czech Republic, Catalonia, Australia were the stages along the path of triumph that brought an unbeatable Biaggi the third title in succession for Aprilia.

Along with the Riders' title in 250cc, Aprilia also took the Makers' world title in the 125cc class, thanks to the victories of Tokudome in Indonesia, Japan, Germany and San Marino, Perugini in Malaysia and Great Britain, the young Valentino Rossi in the Czech Republic, Oettl in Italy and McCoy in Australia.

The 500cc bike was ridden by Doriano Romboni, who won 23 points, but his season was spoilt by an accident which made him miss several races.
