MOTOCROSS: AN INFLAMED MUSCLE IMPEDES MELOTTE IN THE FAENZA MX1 MOTOCROSS GP

At Faenza, the 15th and final round of the world Mx1 Motocross Championships, the weekend proved to be an uphill battle for Cedric Melotte.  The official Aprilia Off Road rider, coming off a great performance on the sand in Lierop, saw his hopes of a repeat immediately fly out the window due to a physical problem.  A muscle inflamation in his thigh flared up, impeding him from maintaining a correct riding position atop his Aprilia MXV 450.  Notwithstanding the pain, the Belgian finished a few laps on Saturday and clocked in the 22nd best time for Sunday's starting line.
Although the situation didn't improve during the night, Melotte still attempted to race the first heat.  The fraction ended with his withdrawal and since he wasn't able to fight on an even playing field with his competition, he and the team decided to not take part in the subsequent heat.
