After two months of hard work, the Aprilia RXV 450 Africa has taken form thanks to close collaboration between Team Giofil 3000 (specializing in rally competitions) and the Aprilia Racing Departmenet. Based on an Aprilia RXV 450, the enduro twin underwent a transformation at both a mechanical and structural level in order to cater to the great African rallies. The lightweight motorcycle is still powerful and enjoys a superstructure stays true to the unmistakable Aprilia style. For such a project, the best specialist in the field, Massimo Montebelli, was involved so that they could draw from the experience he has gained at many Dakar rallies and his knowledge of how to prepare for these African rallies. Complementing Montebelli and his staff were other companies that believed in the project. Aprilia supplied vital technical support, especially for the engine and electrical components. The result was an aggressive motorcycle that is ready to challenge the desert in the 2008 Pharaohs Rally that will take place in Egypt between October 5-11th. Paolo Ceci and Alex Zanotti are the official Team Giofil 3000 riders that will lead a total of six Aprilia RXV 450 Africas, four of which will be entrusted to private riders. On Saturday, September 20th, the team participated in a race-day simulation that began in Turin's Piazza Vittorio Emanuele, under the shadow of the Mole Antonelliana, and the presentation drew thousands of fans and curious spectators to the center of Piedmont's provincial capital.
