The fourth leg of the Pharaohs Rally, 378 kilometres of sand and dunes, took the caravan to the stunningly beautiful Siwa salt lake oasis of the Ammonite people.
It has been a great day for Team Aprilia Giofil, who recorded their first win in their class. The tests of these early legs are going extremely well and today even Paolo Ceci left his bad luck behind him.
The first Aprilia Africa to cross the finishing line was ridden by Alex Zanotti. Despite a fall and a minor mistake, the rider from San Marino caught up with Sardinian rider Manca who left two minutes before him, and rode on to win the leg in the 450 class. Alex finished today’s leg in seventh place overall. In the points table Alex Zanotti is currently second in his class, seventh overall, and within reach of the riders ahead of him.
At last, today’s leg went without problems even for Paolo Ceci. Despite setting off in thirty-eighth place, the rider from Modena managed to pass over twenty others to finish in tenth place overall and third in the 450 class.
Tomorrow’s fifth leg is a Siwa to Siwa circuit of 378 kilometres across the dunes of the Great Sand Sea.
