SUPERMOTO WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP: APRILIA SHOW AT THE SARDINIA GP

Two Aprilia SXV 4.5 dominated the Sardinia S1 Grand Prix, forth race of the Supermoto World Championship: the twins of Ivan Lazzarini and Thierry Van Den Bosch. A family battle on the city track of Olbia; the highly spectacular track was created inside the harbour area and built up on the boarding stage among asphalt, off road terrain and concrete pavement. A winding track that appeared not to be good for the twin-cylinders of Noale, which have dominated the race instead, proving that the first place of the S1 Constructor temporary ranking is deserved and most of all is the result of the great work made by the Aprilia staff. So far Aprilia has won 4 GP out of 4 (3 with  Van Den Bosch, 1 with  Lazzarini) and  6 manches out of  8 (3 with Van Den Bosch, 3 with Lazzarini).
The weekend began with the two riders of the DRC Aprilia Supermoto team immediately protagonist in the qualifying sessions of Saturday: Van Den Bosch got the best time (1’03’’058) before  Lazzarini (0’’362) and Bernd Hiemer (Ktm,  0’’672).

On Sunday morning Lazzarini made the final race upside-down by gaining the best time in the  super pole only 0’’093 before Van Den Bosch.
In Race 1 Lazzarini jumped up to the top with his team mate Van Den Bosch behind him until the end. The assured the race a very high rhythm and Lazzarini gained the first place 1’’886 before Van Den Bosch, and 19’’804 before the German Hiemer (Ktm).
Van Den Bosch was the fastest one at the beginning of Race 2 with Lazzarini behind him. During the first lap Lazzarini tried to overtake his team mate in the off road ground but Hiemer makes him lose one position. After few laps Lazzarini got his second position again and runs ahead to Van Den Bosch. The Aprilia couple went on very fast so that Hiemer could not compare them. Next to the end of the race Lazzarini tried to catch Van Den Bosch but the French gave no possibility and won the Grand Prix also gaining important marks before Hiemer. As for Lazzarini, this test proved him once again to be one of the best. Ivan reached up to the third place of the total ranking, and if not for the double zero in the Europe GP he would now be next to the top; during the latest races he has played very good to be again in the race for the world title however.
In S2, with Christian Iddon (Aprilia SXV 5.5) still not racing because of his left broken wrist, Luca Minutilli gained a good third place in the first manche on his Aprilia SXV 5.5 of the PMR H20 team. Fifth palce for Massimo Beltrami (Aprilia SXV 5.5 of DRC Supermoto team), who unfortunately fell down when he was third by half of the race. Beltrami himself overtook Minutilli by gaining a wonderful third place in Race 2 which has allowed him to also get on the third step of the Sardinia S2 GP podium. Seventh place for Minutilli in the final manche.
